Didier Vancutsem

Didier Vancutsem holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in urban and regional planning, landscape architecture and land management. Based in Munich, Germany, Didier has gained 35 years of professional experience worldwide in urban innovation and elaboration of urban strategies for integrated urban development at all scales in Europe and Middle East, Africa, Russia, Asia. He is currently Project Manager of the Eastern Project in Saudi Arabia at Setec International. Teaching at the ULB Free University of Brussels, Faculty of Architecture since 2009, he delivers Urban Planning and Landscape Architecture Master courses. Currently Director of the Institute for Urban Excellence, an urban Think Tank based in The Hague, Netherlands, he also supports the European Commission on urban development research programs such as Horizon, UAI, or Urbact. He co-founded in 2025 the International Urban Professionals Forum (IUPF) based in Paris.
